Psychology Research: From basics to experimental- This textbook is designed to provide students with basic concepts associated with psychological research and some of the important analytical tools used in experimental psychology. Given the fact that discussion of all research aspects can be very lengthy and requires thousands of pages to be covered fairly, we designed this reduced textbook for undergraduate students in psychology or social science to get them started on basic elements of research. The book begins with introduction to psychology covering evolutionary aspects and famous psychologists. The second chapter presents an introduction to science and research in psychology. Chapter 3 takes students to a step-by-step procedure for conducting psychological research under the title of “The Scientific Method.” Chapter 4 introduces important tips in psychological research. Chapter 5 covers analytical tools of the descriptive research method. Chapter 6 covers the analytical tools of the correlational research method. Chapter 7 covers basic analytical tools of the experimental research method. Chapters 8 through 10 cover more advanced analytical tools including Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), key aspects of the sampling theory with many types of sampling techniques suitable for different applications, and applications of probability in psychological research. Chapter 11 deals strictly with analytical tools suitable for categorical or qualitative variables including the goodness of fit hypothesis testing, independence testing, and homogeneity testing. Again, this textbook does provide a fair overview of all analytical and conceptual aspects related to psychological research and experimental psychology.
